2022 베이징올림픽 당시 쇼트트랙 편파 판정 논란에 대해
소신 발언을 한 최용구 ISU(국제빙상경기 연맹) 국제심판이
최근 ISU로부터 심판 자격 박탈 통보를 받은 것으로 확인됐다.
26일 대한빙상경기연맹 관계자는
"ISU는 지난 8일 최용구 국제심판의 자격을 취소했다고 통보해왔다"고 전했다.
쇼트트랙 한국 대표팀 지원단장 자격으로
베이징올림픽에 참가한 최 심판은
쇼트트랙 남자 1000m 준결승에서
황대헌과 이준서가 잇따라 석연찮은 판정으로 실격 처리되자
긴급 기자회견을 가지고 소신 발언을 한 바 있다.
당시 황대헌(23·강원도청)은 1조 1위로,
이준서(22·한국체대)는 2조 2위로 거뜬히 결승선을 통과했지만
영국 피터 워스 심판의 이해할 수 없는 판정으로 실격을 당했다.
이에 최 심판은 긴급 기자회견에서
"이번 심판은 오심을 넘어 고의적일 수 있다.
황대헌과 이준서는 모두 실격성 플레이를 하지 않았다"면서
당시 경기 상황과 ISU의 규정,
심판 판정을 꼼꼼하게 짚으면서 공개적으로
문제 제기를 했다.
하지만 이 발언은 최 심판에게 징계가 돼 돌아왔다.
ISU는 지난 8일 우리 빙상연맹에
"두 나라에서 항의가 있었다"면서
최 심판의 ISU 심판 자격 박탈을 통보했다.
ISU는 국제심판이 특정 국가를 대변하는
행위를 엄격하게 금지하고 있다.
최 심판이 ISU 심판 자격을 상실하면서
한국인 ISU 심판은 3명에서 2명으로 줄었다.
한편, 베이징동계올림픽 쇼트트랙 경기 때마다
편파 판정 논란을 일으켰던
영국의 피터 워스 심판은 아무런 징계를 받지 않았다.
