방송인 박수홍이 친형과의 갈등으로 극단적 선택까지 시도했던 과거를 털어놨다.
박수홍은 지난 16일 방송된 MBN ‘동치미’에서 “저는 정말 (결혼이) 목숨을 살려줬다”고 말했다.
그러면서 “제가 어려움이 있었는데, 사람이 감당할 수 있는 선을 넘으면 어떤 자리에서도 괴로움 없이 빨리 죽을 수 있을지 생각을 하게 되지 않나. 당시 저도 그런 고민을 했다”면서 “‘나는 죽어야 하는 존재구나’ 생각했고, 자책의 끝이었다. 그래서 계속 산에 올라가서 한 번에 기절해서 끝낼 수 있겠다고 생각했다”고 했다.
박수홍은 “어느 날은 당시 여자친구였던 아내가 나와 전화가 안 되고 그 전부터 조짐이 있으니까 집이 30분 거리인데 슬리퍼에 손전등 들고 산에 올라와서 막 뒤져서 나를 찾아냈다”며 “(아내가) 나한테 왜 그러냐고 소리 지르면서 진짜 죽으면 나도 죽을 거라고, 수면제 먹고 죽을 거라고 거짓말 같냐고, 나 죽이려면 죽으라고 그러더라”고 회상했다.
그는 당시 자신을 걱정하는 아내에게 오히려 더 모진 말을 쏟아냈다고 전했다. 박수홍은 “내가 ‘너는 도대체 왜 그러냐’면서 내가 더 모질게 굴었다. ‘너도 내 돈 보고 나 이용하려고 그러는 거냐’ 했더니, 여자친구가 나보고 ‘오빠가 무슨 돈이 남아있냐, 죽을까 봐 걱정하는 사람한테 왜 그러는 거냐’고 그러더라”며 “그때는 미쳐 있었으니까, 계속 내가 ‘너는 목적이 뭐냐’고 하면서 막 밀어냈다”고 설명했다.
이어“(그런 말을 듣고도) 아내는 날 살리려고 했다”며 “결혼도 제가 이기적으로 하자고 한 것이다. (아내와 함께 있으면) 내가 살 수 있으니까”라고 부연했다.
박수홍은 “아내가 시간이 지나고 나서 하는 얘기가 정말 내가 죽을까 봐, 그게 너무 불쌍했고 무서웠다더라”며 아내의 강경한 태도로 장인어른의 반대를 꺾고 결국 결혼을 했다고 설명했다.
그는 아내 역시 스트레스를 받아 스트레스성 탈모가 생겼다는 사실을 전하면서 “인생에서 다홍이(반려묘)와 와이프 만난 게 내 인생을 살려준 존재다. 이건 진심이고 할 수 있는 한 잘 살 것”이라고 설명했다.
박수홍은 지난해 7월 23세 연하의 비연예인 여성과 결혼했다.
그는 현재 친형이자 소속사 대표였던 박모씨와 법적 분쟁을 벌이고 있다. 박수홍은 지난해 3월 친형 부부가 출연료를 횡령했다고 폭로하면서 같은 해 4월 5일 형과 형수를 횡령 혐의로 고소하고, 이들을 상대로 116억원 상당 손해배상청구소송을 제기했다.

"I thought, 'I must die,' and it was the end of my self-criticism. So I thought I could keep climbing the mountain and pass out at once and finish it."
"One day, my then-girlfriend's wife couldn't call me and there were signs before that, so she came up to the mountain with a flashlight in her slippers and looked for me," Park Soo-hong said. "My wife shouted, "I'm going to die if I really die, I'm going to die after taking sleeping pills."
He said he poured out more harsh words to his wife, who was worried about him at the time. Park Soo-hong said, "I said, 'What's wrong with you?' and I was more harsh. I asked, "Are you trying to use me after seeing my money?" and my girlfriend said, "What money does my brother have left, why are you doing this to someone who is worried about dying?" and "I was crazy at that time, so I kept pushing him away, saying, "What's your purpose?"
"My wife tried to save me (even after hearing that)," he said adding, "I also wanted to get married selfishly." "I can live with my wife," he added.
Park Soo-hong explained, "What my wife said after time passed was that I was really afraid that I would die, so I felt so sorry and scared," adding, "I eventually got married after defeating my father-in-law's opposition with my wife's strong attitude."
He said that his wife was also stressed out and developed stress-induced hair loss, adding, "Meeting my wife with Da-hong in my life saved my life. I'm serious about this, and I'll live as well as I can."
Park Soo-hong married a non-celebrity woman 23 years younger than him in July last year.
He is currently in a legal dispute with his brother and former head of his agency, Park. In March last year, Park Soo-hong sued his brother and sister on April 5 of the same year for embezzlement, revealing that his brother and his wife embezzled their appearance fees, and filed a lawsuit against them for damages worth 11.6 billion won.
